Problem with power grid.

On the 24th (our X-MAS) I got power fialure at around 03:30 in the morning. Power came back at 11:00. Next day I worked a V25 on 80 m in the morning. And when the QSO was finished power went again. From 07:30 until 13:45 I was witout power. Nex day (26 Dec) power went 15:20 and was restored 21:15.
Yes, this suposed to be a high tech comunity with reliable power grid. But I start to wonder. Lots of snow on trees. Problem was on the 10 KV lines where trees was resting and looking for suport on the power lines with catastrophic result!! There have been a lot of snow on trees. But now we have had temperature on the + side for two days so most of the snow has fallen from the trees. Hopefully I will have a more stabile power grid for a while.

Received a QSL to day from 1A0C. Worked them on all the band slots where I missed 1A. Including 6 m and RY as a new mode. Very nice card as you can see.

Worked H40FN on 20 m CW this morning. This is a new one for me. So this pushed both DXCC and IOTA score up one point!! Will try to get a QSL from him.

That's all for now.

Take care all of you readers and CUL!

Two new IOTA received!

Today I received IOTA OC-069 and OC-099 from the operation P29VPB and P29NI. So now I miss the island worked by SM6CVX as P29VCX. Come on Hans! Where are the QSL cards???

Nice cards as usual from G3KHZ team. The rest of the team is HB9BXE, K5WQG, DL5KVA, SM6CVX and a non ham Stig who is also a member of the gang! So this pushed my IOTA score up with two ( 2 ) points!

The KPA500 is doing fine. Running it to my 6 m station for testing. Putting out more than 500 W on 50 MHz.

Worked NP4A on 80 SSB this morning. I have very high SWR on upper part on 80 but one call was all I needed!!

Well Marry X-Mas to you all out there.

Close to tear down phone line!

In this picture you can see two pine trees leaning over my road. If we will get some more snow these pine's might break and they will cut the phone line. So we are waiting for disaster to happen.

When I'm out driving with my car I always bring my chainsaw in case of!!!!

No big things on the bands at the moment. Was lsn on 80 m last night and there were strong sigs from DU and JA on the lower part of the band.

Best X-Mas to you all.

Repaired a beauty!

I have repaired a beauty for a friend (yes I still have a few left). It was a smashed up KPA500 that has been buncing of a concreate floor a few times. As I have a 5 ton hydraulic press I was able to strighten up most of the metal sheets. A few components had been ripped off the circuit boards due to high G forces. I had to replace a few components and resolder a lot. A few screws had been ripped out and was missing. But I had a few 4-40 and 6-32 in my shelf's. Anyway it is up and running for the moment.

My check of the Aorta turned out fine. The overall dia was less than 2 cm ( .7 Inch ). If it is greater than 3 cm than there are some action to be done. But for me there will be a new check in 5 years.

Marry X-Mas and a happy New Year.

QSL arrived!

Today I received a QSL from Rodrigues Isl using the call 3B9SP. Worked them on the band slots where I didn't have 3B9 confirmed.Very nice card!

It has been fine openings on low bands. What about RI1ANF (South Shetland) on both 160 and 80 m. HL on 160 and a few others on both 160 and 80 m. I scan the low bands every morning to see if I can work any new ones.

The snow is continue to fall. Yesterday I had to remove around 15 Cm of the fluff. Thanks for the snowblower!!

Well, today I will visit the Hospital for a screening of my aorta and check for any changes sutch as hernia. Hopefully they will not find any failure. This is a thing we do here in Sweden when you have reached a certain age. And as I was 65 on 10 of December this call came in the mail ASAP!!

That's all for now. Take care and I will be back when I have some news.

Monday, 10 December 2012

New IOTA received.

Received a QSL from EG5INT, IOTA EU-069, Columbretes Isl. So now my IOTA score is up one more point.

I also managed to work ZL9HR on 40 m before they went QRT. I managet to put 5T0SP on 160 as well.
There have been fine openings on 160 in the eavnings. South Korea and South Shetland Isl have made it into my log.

Winter is still here. More snow is on its way. Look's we will have a long and cold winter this year.
I just received December Issue of CQ so now I will go downstears and read it.

Take care all of you readers out there.

Not new but quite rare!

Received QSL from 3D2C (Conway Reef) today. With the contacts confirmed I have Conway Reef on all band slots except 160 m. Wery good operation by YT1AD, Harne's team.

Nice!

I also got ZL9HR confirmed on 17 m CW and I also worked them on 20 m PH just a few minutes ago. At the moment I'm trying on 40 m CW but the QRM:ers is doing the best to keep me out of log.

So back to radio and the fight with the QRM:ers.

I'v got plenty!!

Well, snow is not a shortage here at my QTH. If you need some, just come and get it for free. All you need is a big lorry and some means of loading it on to the lorry!!

It has been snowing for almort 24 Hrs and lots of wind. We are just in begginning of December and we got more than we need so far for the rest of this year!
Been out with my snowblower all morning to get to my car.

Worked ZL9HR on 20 m CW and I'm in the log. They will go QRT on Sunday. I hope I will catch them on some other band slots before they shut down.

Take care all you readers out there and don't do anything I wouldn't do!!??

Tuesday, 4 December 2012

In the ZL9HR log and a new IOTA confirmed.

Found out this morning that I had my 15 and 30 m QSO confirmed with ZL9HR. This is a new DXCC and also a new IOTA for me. Worked them for just a few minutes ago on 20 m CW. Wery strange conditions. The only station I heard on 20 was ZL9HR. No QRM:ers (are they sleepy) and suprisingly very weak sigs from the pile. So I just put the transmitter 5 up and called. After 3 (!) calls he answered moi!
I might think I will go and by a lottery ticket today.

Received a QSL from Valery RA0SS/0, worked from AS-025 Kunashir Isl. According to IOTA directory book only 30% of the IOTA comunity has worked this isl.

Looks like a nice place?!

Temp outside is just around -14 and rising ( 6,8 F ) and more snow on it's way.

Back to the radio. ZL9HR is spotted on 17 m but I can't hear a single tone.

Have a nice day and I'll be back as soon as I have any news.

Monday, 3 December 2012

New Circus on the bands!

Just when the fog had settled after PT0S operation, the QRM:ers have a new one to make life a mess for. It is ZL9HR, Campbell Isl. A very rare DX for many including mysellf. And the QRM:ers have a ball!!!! I need this DXCC entry but so far no QSO. Big Guns with very big antennas and more power than they need have to work them first. Then, parhaps I will get a chance hopefully before 9 of Dcember when they are scheduled to go QRT.

Winter has hit us quite hard. We have about 15 cm  ( about 5 Inch ) of snow. This morning temperature was - 18 C ( about -1 F ).

So this is winter so far.

Was on my yearly check up of the pump system. All values OK for one more year.

Now back to radio and check out all QRM:ers and check if I hear ZL9HR on 20 m.

Take care all of you readers untill next time.

Friday, 30 November 2012

Wow! I'm getting sleepy to!

Wow! What a nice QSL. It is from the Italian Team around I2YSB and their perfect operation from TT8TT. Worked them on all bands and modes where I didn't had Chad before.

Click on it and enjoy.

Have tried to work 5T0SP on 80 m several days but so far no QSO. But this morning he was around S7 to S9 and was lsn 8 up. Called once and he was in the log. Told you before that I have limited amount of radials in that direction. But this morning no problem to break the pile.

The snow continue to fall. I have about 5-6 inches now. Temperature is about -3 C ( 26 F ).

CUL all of you readers out there.

Thursday, 29 November 2012

Here we go!!

Awoke this morning and this is what I saw when I looked outside!

So now we have at least 3 to 4 mounths of this white fluff ( I think it is called snow ) on the ground.

I have requested QSL for the PT0S operation and also made a small donation. Have also worked 5T9SP and 7P8D on a few band slots. Next operation I'm waiting for is Campbell Island (ZL9). but they are in bad weather down at the "Roaring Forties" where the wind always is a problem. Hoope they will land safe and sound and start operation so I can get Campbell isl in my log.

Take care all of you readers out there and CU SOON.

New One Received today.

D64K QSL arrived in my Mailbox today. This is a new DXCC and IOTA for me. Worked them on a few band slots on CW/SSB/RY. Have it alreddy conmirmed on LoTW but need card for IOTA. So AF-007 pushed my IOTA score up one point.

Nice card. It was outside the Comoros a hi-jacked 767 crashed on the shore due to lack of fuel. I have seen a doumentery of that incident where the pilots told the bad guys that they need refuling but they didn't belive them with catastrophic result.

Tried to work PT0S on 40 m this morning. No success! Vorked V84 expedition on RY/ CW and SSB this morning on 15, 12 and 10 m bands.

Well I promised you all a picure and here we are.

Take care of you out there and remember life is still to short for QRP!!??

PT0S ooperation!

Wow! I have 4 bands confirmed in "On Line Log". Reading about the problem they have with waves taking down antennas and mingling up radials, enormous sound level from breaking waves, these guys are doing a fine job! These 4 hams have gone to this remote rock island just so you and me can have a new one in our log's. And they have payed most of the cost them self. Then I get frustrated when I read on the cluster about bad operators. Long time between QSO's, and so on.
Well my comment to to these armchair operators is : " Go your self to a remote place with no HRO and no Stores and no medical facitilities. And pay all expenses from your own pocket."

One thing I dont understand is the chase for multi band QSO's on SSB/CW/RY. For the DXCHALLANGE Award it is OK with one band QSO. Is this a problem caused by the Club Log Leader Board where you must have so many "Green" squares as possble??!! But for the DXCHALLANGE one band QSO is fine. But I guess it is the thrill to be on top of the Club Log Leader Board that is the driving force! I'm just pleased to get the new DXCC on any mode. The rest is just a bonus if I catch the DX on some more band slots. But if I have worked a DX on a specific band on, for an  example, SSB I don't work them on the same band on CW as it will not give me any more point on the Challange Award. But this is my opinion.

I also heard a new QRM:er. This one was calling "QRX" for minutes. Wonder wy!

Well now I have complained enough. Back to the radio. No picture today but I will come up with one next time.

finally in the PT0S log!!

Well, my QSO with PT0S on 20 m is now confirmed on their "ON Line Log". A new DXCC and IOTA is in the log and hopefully I will receive a QSL in the future.
Tried to work them on 80 this morning. But the pile was enormous and I don't have a chance. One of the reason is that I dont have so many radials in direction to PT0S. This is due to my house is standing in the way of the direction 180 deg to 260 deg. So this might be an explanation why I cant get a QSO with PT0S on 160 and 80 m.But I heard them with 579 to 599 on my K9AY RX antenna.

Warm outside. Temperature yesterday was around 11 C. It was almost a spring feeling.

Yesterday I replaced a Stabilizator Bar Ball Joints on my SUV. Due to rust and salt it was very hard to remove the broken one. But once it was gone it was 15 minutes to install the new one.

Well I will keep on calling PT0S to the bitter end and hope he will catch my week signals.

Take care and CUL.

PT0S Circus!

What a mess some times on the bands. Managed to catch them on 20 m CW. Then I have spent Several Hundred KWh on 160 and 80 m calling and calling and calling and call..................! And so far nada! Used my TL-922 to max.. Running about 1 KW on both 160 and 80 m.

Rebuilt my tuning unit for 160 to version 2. But still no QSO.

But I will keep on calling. Wonder how much power I actually need to break the pile. We have a limit in Sweden that allow us to use max 1 KW. But sometimes I wonder when my S-Meter is above S9+60 db!! Is it possible to check the purchase of GU78 and GU84 and some other tubes sutch as 4CX10000 and lookalikes? I have one GU74-b or 2 X 3-500ZG at my disposal.

Take care out there and keep the Stratosphere glowing.

DX Code of Conduct!

I have tried to work PT0S on several bands. I don't think I ever have heard so much QRM to make it more or less impossible to work them. Wonder if these hams have heard about the DX Code of Conduct. If not PSE check this link: http://dx-code.org/

But I don't think it will improve the situation. It is not easy for a small gun like me to work them when all big guns, whom I think alreddy have this country aproved in their DXCC is calling constantly even when the DX is transmitting. Wonder if they have a thing called Receiver??!! It would be nice if we ( I ) that do not have this country might get a chance to work them.

Well I will keep on calling them and hopefully I will get them on at least one band.

So back to LSN to the QRM:ers and have a ball!!

New on 40 m!

I received QSL from KP2/K5WE and by this I have KP2 (US Virgin Isl) confirmed on 40 m.
Nice card or.......?

I have had my 4WD SUV passed the yearly inspection without any remarks. That is impressive for a car that is 11 years old and has passed more than 270 000 Km. So now I have another year to drive until the next inspection. This is a requirement by law in Sweden to have all vehicles that are older than 3 years to have an safety inspection. In the UK they call it MOT check (if I remember correctly).

Not much on radio. I have called ZL7A a few times on bands where I need Chatham Isl. But so far no QSO. Still waiting for a lot of QSL cards. It is very slow to receive cards. LoTW is also very slow at the moment due to the large amount of logs uploading from the CQWW SSB contest.

Well that's all for now. Take care all readers out there.

New DXCC and IOTA.

As I have passed more than 300 DXCC it has become wery rare to get a new one. But that happened today when I received QSL for the VU7M Lighthouse operation. And  AS-106 was also a new IOTA for me. And the envelope that the QSL arrived in was amazing. I will start by show you the envelope!

Amazing envelope!!! It is from an other operation but what the h..k!

Then the QSL!

So this is very nice to get Lakshadweep Island group and the operation was from Minicoy.
So this push both DXCC and IOTA up one (1) point!
Click on the pictures to view them with more ditails.

CUL all of you readers.

Winter tires!

Now are my winter tires mounted on my Suv, Cooper Weather-Master S/Tr with studs. Work just fine. They don't create to much noise inside when driving on dry roads. This is the 4th season I'm using them. Hopefully they will last the whole winter. Quite expensive tires. Dimension are 235/60 16!!!

Not much done on the radio. Worked P29VCX from OC-103. Will not paticipate in CQWW SSB. I will save my strength for the CQWW CW part.

This morning I had -8 outside (yes minus 8 C). That's about 17F. Little early in my opinion!

CUL all readers.

Promised a picture!

Well here are some pictures from the "small" antenna installation last week.
First picture show the Prop-Pitch Rotator with pressure bearing and support bearing and mounting plate going up.

Second picture show the antenna going up.

Nice. Works just fine. Owner is the well knewn ham Hawk (SM5AQD). I would like to have the same here at my location. Well, keep on dreaming!!!

Now it is time to change the wheel's on  my car. It is a law in Sweden to have specific winter tires during the winter period. So I have tires with studs to get good grip on ice and snow. Temp outside at the moment is -4 and we have some fluff on the ground. So no we are facing at least 5 long months with winter.

On radio I have worked CY0 on 10 m band and Mariana Isl (AH0/N0AT) on 40 m last night. Also added a new RTTY contact as I worked 5T5BV on 30 m.

That's all for now. Take care all of you readers.

No. One (1) Again!?

Once again I was No. 1 in CQWW. Operated CW SO Assisted 10 m. Wonder where the rest of Swedish operators are.

Have to show you the award as proof of my achivement. I have now 4 wins in Sweden. One on 20 m SSB, one on 80 m CW and one on 15 m CW. And finally this one on 10 m band CW. But I think it will be difficult to get another one.

Have worked 3B9SP on the bands where I'm missing 3B9. One still missing and that is 30 m.

Helped a fellow ham to reinstall a small beam into his 44 m tower. The beam was a 3 el yagi for 80 m(!). I will post some pictures later.

Well thats all for now. Take care.

Thursday, 18 October 2012

New one on 80 m and SAC contest!

In beginning of this week I received a QSL from YV8AD. Worked him on 80 and 20 m and he was a new one on 80 m.

The SAC SSB contest was due this last weekend. Conds was below worst ever. Calling and calling and after about 10 hrs of effective working time I passed 100.000 points and the total QSO was 427. Hope it will be better next year.

Thats all for now. Take care all of you readers.

Thursday, 11 October 2012

Last tree picture!

I have to show you whats is left of leafs on the tree. This picture was taken for about 3 day's ago. As you can see there are not much left.

Big difference!

In the radio subject I have worked TT8TT and 5U5U on RTTY. I have now the fantastic sum of 9 (!?) DXCC worked on this mode. All are just DX as 7O6T, 6O0CW, 1A0C, D64K, HC2/AL1O, NH8S, TT8TT, 5U5U and 7Z7AB. I don't have a normal QSO on RY yet. But I'm learning by trail and error. And the DX stns are just fine for that. But it looks odd, or..........??? I use real FSK not AFSK. I have my FT-1000MP MK5 and ACOM 1000. Interface with computer is a microHAM
microkeyer II. Works fine. So if you hear me on RY pls give me a call and remember I'm a novice on this mod. So be patient with me.

Take care and have a nice weekend.

Friday, 5 October 2012

Chad TT8TT QRV on the bands.

Chad is QRV on the bands. It is I2YSB and Team that is working the piles. Have managed to catch them a few times. It is not a new one for me so I will only try to work them on the slots where I'm missing TT.

Autumn is in progress. For about 10 days ago I shoot this picture.

Then I shoot a new one for 3 days ago. And the differance is amazing.

Atumn is beautiful. And this morning there are almost no leafs left on the tree. It is almöst totaly naked!

Back to radio. This moorning I worked XE2X on 40 m in an enormous pile from EU. He was working simplex. I called once and when the "fog" settled he was calling moi!!!!  I was impressed that He captured my sig as I only have an 11 m vertical raised 5 m up from ground with 4 elevated radials on 40.
Time of wonder is not over yet!!!!

CUL all of you readers and take care.

One more IOTA!

Received A35YZ in the mail box yesterday. I had the DXCC confirmed via LoTW for A3. But no paper QSL for IOTA. But now I have! Worked OC-049 on a few band slots.

Nice card from Tongatapu.

Finally I have made my self into the log of 3D2C 6 times with very little effort. But on 12 m CW I had to work them 3 times to be on that band. For the moment I'm missing 160 and 40 m to have Conway Reef on all band. On 40 I have called them a few times. But the QRM:ers do their best to keep me out of that band. I can't understand that we have so many idiots among our ranks in the ham radio comunity!!??

Take care all of you readers. I'll be back soon.

One more IOTA and DXCC

Now they start to roll in!? Today I received 4S7NE from Nelson in Sri Lanka, AS-003. Vaiting a long time for this to happened.

So now my IOTA is up to 233 (!). Still a lot to do here. Where are all the IOTA operations? I have a few worked and vaiting for CFM.

Anyway life is still to short for QRP!!

New IOTA and DXCC!

Yesterday the QSL from CY9M arrived. This was a new IOTA (NA-094) and also a new DXCC. So one more for my IOTA account.

Wonder why Victoria (SV2KBS) on the piture is in the shade!? Anyway a nice card with a rare IOTA.

Every one is lsn on the bands for the 3D2C (Conway Reef) operation planned to start tomorrow. Worked Conway last operation as 3D20CR on a few bands including 80 m. So there will not be any big efford from this end. Let the operators that need this operation as a new one take them first. But I guess that the QRM:ers will have a ball again for the next 10 days. Hope they (QRM:ers) will have enough supplies sutch as food and water to keep them up and going so the rest of us will have a h..l of a time.

CU in the pile!

Wednesday, 19 September 2012

New IOTA arrived.

Worked K8GI/4 (Rick) at the end of August. Yesterday the QSL arrived from NA-058 (Lanier Isl).
This pushed my IOTA score up 1 point. But still lots to catch.

I also got A35YZ (Tonga) via LoTW. But the QSL is still out there. But it is on order!

There are lots of exiting DXpeditions in the future to come. Clipperton, Conway Reef, Banaba Isl. Just to mention a few. So this coming winter and spring will be exciting. I hope the winter storms will be soft so all my aluminium that I have up in the air will stay there.

Take care!

NH8S QRT!

According to NH8S homepage they will go QRT on the 16/Sep 07:00 Z. I managed to work them on 4 bands and all modes. Unfortunally I missed them on 80, 40 m last night. I had to visit my doctor and take a few X-Ray pictures of my thumb. It was hurting like hell and I suspected I had some internal damage. But X-Ray show no fault. Suspected some nerve that was causing the pain. Had to put the Plastic protection on again and keep the thumb still. But I was home in time to work them. But the djungle drum didn't reach me!! Due to my injury there where no SAC contest activity from my side at all. I just can't handle the manipulator at the moment.

Have to show you an other picture of my antennas. Also a proof of the atumn as the sun is wery low and produced nice light on my antennas.Picture was taken around 18:30 local time.

Click on the picture and enjoy!

Tried to work NH8S on 40 several afternoons. And I must say, that the QRM:ers really have made a new record in making it almost impossible to hear and work the DX. But I guess that this is the purpose with this behaviour. Can it be that these guy's have worked the DX and then doing all they can to make sure no one else will have QSO with the DX?????!!!!!!! Just wonder.

Take care all of you readers out there!

Worked NH8S on all modes

Well, I have managed to work NH8S on all three modes. CW, SSB and finally today on RTTY.
Also I have them confirmed on a few band slots. Missing 160, 80, 40, 12 and 10 m. But I think this will be difficult from here.

Have to show you my antennas in my tower a little up close.

They are from top 5 el for 6 m. It is a ECO antenna.

Mid antenna is a 9 el for 2 m made by Swedish company Vårgårda. 9EL2 is the product name.

And finaly the lower one for HF is an Australia made Tet Emtron TE-56. It is actually 2 antennas with separate feeds. 2 el for 30, 17 and 12 m and a 3 el for 20, 15 and 10 m bands. Normally it works just fine. If I hear it, I can work it. HF beam is about 20 m up in the sky

Here are also a picture of the autumn in progress. Soon we will have the white fluff on the ground again. I think it is called snow!!??

Well, unfortunally I can't spend all my time at the radio. If I could I might be able to work NH8S on some more band slots. But I dont have my "Tube Feed System" installed yet. That's why I have to make some breakes to make food and coffie to keep me alive. I have to go away from time to time to purchase food and stuff. That's the explanation why I sometimes miss a few band slots. And I don't have a ground crew (wife or what ever) to help me out. I have to do it all by my self. He He He!!!

That's all for now. Take care all you readers.

Saturday, 8 September 2012

NH8S is on the air!

Managed to work NH8S on a few slots yesterday (first day of the dxpedition). This is quite an achivement form my side. Normally I let the big guns work the DX first and then I come in and pick up the remains. Normally this is the best way for me up at 60 deg North. With the antennas I have and only leagal amps (yes, just 1 KW) I'm always 2:nd in the piles. I have checked out the propagations and I think the only bands that it will be certain to achive a QSO with NH8S is 30, 20 and 17 m bands. 15 m might work but any more is a bonus. 40 and 80 m would be nice but my antennas are not so good on these bands.

Autumm is making progress. Wonder how tuff winter will be. We have a say here in sweden that if there are many rowanberry on the  mountain ash we will have lots of snow. Well, the berryes is not that many.

As you see on the pictures there are just a few!! So those who belive in superstition will be happy. I just have to wait and see!

Have a nice weekend and beware of the QRM:ers!!

Repairing my K9AY antenna

I had very low sensitivity when using SW and NE loop. Checked SWR with my Rigexpert and found that I had very high SWR in that loop. Found I had a broken loop at the box. The wires had been sitting there for about 6 long years so it was time to replace them both.
I cut two 85' (feet) wires and installed them. After checking with analyzer the SWR is about 1:1,3 from bottom of 160 m to the end of 80 m.

So I'm back on 160 and 80 with pretty good ears again! By the way the control box and the relay box is from Array Solutions AS-AYL-4 K9AY system. But the support and antenna loops are my own construction. Works just fine and the preamp in the box sometimes adds just wonders to some week signals. This system is resposible for many of my DX worked on 80 and 160 m.

About one more day to "GO" before NH8S will be in the air. So hopefully all QRM:ers and all the "Police" calling UpUpUpUpUp and the rest of the words will have a ball! I hope I will get at least one QSO with this rare DX. Also I hope the QRM:ers will start calling on the right frequency and get a QSO insted of just causing noise!!! But this is only a dream!!!???

CU in the pile.

Improved Tuning Unit for 160 m.

I have changed my tuning unit for 160 m, From the small dia coil with 2 mm wire to 1/4 " cupper tubing and an old roller inductor. Se picture.

The capacitor is for 80 m and the coils for 160 m. Either band is selected from my schack via Russian Vacuum relays.

The antenna is about 24 m long and the linear loading is about 2 X 6 m used only on 160m.

It is long, isn't it!!!

Have a nice day all of you readers.

7BDXCC

Well, here are some proof of my 17 m sticker to the 5BDXCC. See picture. So now it's a 7BDXCC!!

Next project is to get the 160 m, 12 m, and 6 m. 12 m and 160 is worked more than 100. Problem is  geting the QSL, either via LoTW or paper QSL confirmation. I'm working on it.
6 m is a different story. But I will cotinue to monitor the "Magic Band" when I have the time and when there are no TS in the neighbourhood.

Take care all of you readers.

A New One!!!

It is not so often I receive a new DXCC. But now it has happened! I worked EP3PK on 20 m band on the 16 of August 2012. Today I received the QSL from Mr Pooyan as a confirmation of our nice QSO. And I must give regards to his QSL manager IK2DUW. This is a new record. 10 (ten) days after my QSO. But it dosn't stoop here! In the same envelope IK2DUW had included a QSL from TM1F (IOTA EU-095) a new entry for IOTA as well. So PLS all other QSL managers, read and learn!!!

Very nice with a new entry to my DXCC. Nice QSL card as well.

Soon it will be a huge activity on all bands. NH8S will start operation from Swains Isl. This will be a new one for me any way. Hope for a couple of band slots and different modes. Just 8 days to go.

That's all for now. Take care out there and beware of the QRM:ers!!!!

More radials

I have just finished digging down 7 additional 35 to 40 m long radials in the direction of south for my 80/160 vertical. You can see the traces in my lawn.

You can, if you click on the picure, se the base of the antenna and the cabinet containing the relays and tuning units for 80 and 160 (the gray thing in the far end of picture).

Worked the Youngsters On The Air in ON land as ON4YOTA. It was the Swedish girl Jennifer (SA7BUU) at the microphone. It took some time before she understod I was calling her in Swedish. Well it was fun!

WX here in Sweden is still Rain and TS and more rain on and off. Managed to get the radials down in the lawn between the showers. It is time to cut the lawn. But it is so wet so I have to wait until it gets dry or more or less dry.

Take care!

Well, here is another very knewn ralley car. The BMC Cooper also form the 60's. It had one wheel in every corner. We called them "the Dog House".

Yesterday I managed to get D64K on RY on 17 m. So now I have them on all 3 modes and 6 band slots. Thats all for me. If I can chatch them on 40 and 80 m it's a big bonus.

Take care!!

Nostalgic Car Ralley.

This passed weekend we had the Nostalgic ARC Ralley with start of the 2:nd part at my doorstep. The cars are form the 1960 and up to 1985 with one or two exeptions. The picture show a two stroke SAAB Sport!! Dut to the sound from the two stroke 3 cyl engine we called these cars the "djungel drum" when I was a kid (Yes! I have been a kid and still are). What's amaze me is the extreme care and the finish these old cars still have. And the speed the drivers perform. There are no holding back. We are talking full throttle.

Well I have been working some on the radio to. I have worked D64K on 6 band on CW and SSB. I have been calling them on RTTY but so far no success in that mode. I only run about 500 W on RTTY. But there are some more days to go so I will keep on trying.

I have got CY9M confirmed on LoTW. Very Nice indeed! I have ordered QSL for the IOTA award.

Well, thats all for now. Take care all you readers out there!

This is a bonus card.

This card below is the 6 pages main QSL card. Very nice indeed!

It was so thick that my scanner had some problem getting it straight. but you can click on the pictures to see them little bigger.

Othervise the activity has been on the low side dut to the Olympic Games in London. And that will go on for the rest of this week.

So take care all of you readers out there. CUL!

Low activity on this blogg for a while!

I'm back! I have been off. And the reason have been several important ones! One reason has been chasing CY9M. I managed to catch them on a few band slots. I worked some in the IOTA contest. Chased RRC group with call KL7RRC/P (NA-150), RI0K/P (missed him) and RI0K (AS-061). This pused my IOTA score up a bit. I worked about 25 new ones in IIOTA Contest as an extra bonus.
Then I have done all my fire wood for the up-coming winter season. It's about 6 kbm of wood nicly chopped up in suitable bits, and stowed and hopefully dry and nice when the minus degrees hits this region..

Now I will keep myself warm during this winter (I hope).

That's all for now. I will try to be more active for all your readers.
Take care!

New rare IOTA received.

Just got AF-037 Banana Isl (9L0W) confirmed. QSL was via DK2WV. Nice card!

So this pushed my IOTA score up one more point. Still a lot to do here. Isn't she nice looking?? Click on the picture to make it larger.

Made an update of my DXCC status by the new On-Line update and also a LoTW update. Ordered a 17 m sticker for my 5BDXCC. Itis now a 7BDXCC!! Also ordered a DXCC Award for 17 m.

Still a lot of CB's activiity (with CB I mean the enormous cloud that can make a lot of noice and rainfall) with Thunderstorms most every day. Prediction for tomorrow is just rain showers. But I belive it when I see it.

So take care all of you readers out there.

Back home again.

I'm back home after a short visit down to the city of Varberg in the southwest part of Sweden. Checking the mail I found only one (1) QSL card. But it was a very nice one. 6O0CW that I worked on  several band slots.

QSL via I2YSB. Looks hot to me!

Here in Sweden it is raining and a lot of thunderstorms every day. Wonder when we will get some summer.

Ordered a QSK bord (just the printed circuit bord) from W7RY yesterday. I will do some mod to my TL-922 so I don't need ear protection due to noisy relay's that are standard in this AMP. This mod completly change the bias and the relay's to a fast reed relay for the input and a vaccum relay for the output.

Take care all of you readers out there and remember that life is to short for QRP!!!

Off-Line for some time.

I have been in the south of Sweden for some time now. That's the reason for no updates on this blogg. But I have to show some activity. I have been taking care of one horse, one dog. But I have also taking some time and visited the Long Wawe radiotransmitter Grimeton. Here we are talking QRO! And the freqency 17,5 KHz!!! See the picture of feedpoint to the enormous 6 masts with a hight of 127 m.

But any way I'm alive and still kicking and the thumb is still there.

Take care and CUL!

Two new IOTA and one new DCXX confirmed!

Received 3C6A, Equatorial Guinea (AF-010) and 3C0E, Annobon Isl (New DXCC entry and IOTA AF-039). QSL from EA5BYP. The operation was performed by EA5BYP and EA5KM. Here you can look at the fine QSL card's.

So this adds to both DXCC and IOTA! Nice. But I have a long way to go yet.

Here in Sweden at the moment it is raining and then it is raining some more!! I think we have broken all high time reccords so far during June. The thumb is still alive and hurting as normal. So I knew it is there.

CUL!!

New IOTA in my mailbox.

In the end of March this year a team of YB Hams activated OC-221 (Kei Isl) using the call sign YB8Y. Worked them on a few band slots. Today I received a very nice 4 pages QSL card from this operation. Pushed my IOTA score up 1 point!

Well. I visited my doctor and the nails (3 ea) was removed without any problem. No more plaster just a removable plastic support for stabilizing my thumb. I  got an X-Ray picture with the nails still in. I have put it in a frame on the wall in the schack. I also have the 3 nails in a tube for anyone to see!!
Now it is time to celebrate Midsummer. Here after it is down hill to the next winter time. Nights getting longer but hopefully we will have some fine days ahead!

CUL!

A new one arrived today!

A new DXCC arrived today. It is 9M0L, Spratly Islands. Hope this will be approved by ARLL or it might allreddy be fine for DXCC. I managed to work them on 7 bandslots. Missed them on the most needed, namely 12 m. But OK from 80 to 10 m except the WARC 12 m.

Tomorrow I will visit my doctor for, hopefully, removal of the plaster for good! I shall also perform an X-Ray of the thumb and if all is OK the nails (3 ea) will be removed.
I have 5 kbm of wood that I have to take care of for the coming winter. So I hope that I can start working with that this weekend.

That's all for now. Take care all you readers out there.
