WOW! Just in time! Two rare IOTA!!

Today the mailman/girl was kind to me. I've got two nice IOTA's. First one was from Jeff KL2HD operating with the call KL7NWR from Attu Isl NA-064. Super thanks Jeff for Quick response.

This was worked in 2013.

Next one is a rare one. What about AS-203, Dobrzhanskogo Isl.

SO! Now I'm ready to do an update to IOTA! And we (me and Swedish IOTA Cardchecker SM5DJZ, Janne) will do it tomorrow.
Click on the Pictures and enjoy!!! I will!!

They are both QRT!

Both VP8STI and K5P Went QRT. VP8 had to leave in a hurry leaving all Equipment due to Ice. Hope they can go back and collect all stuff they had to abandon. I managed to work them on 12 m just Before they Went QRT. But that is not yet confirmed for obvious reason.

K5P is a totally different story. I was trying to get them on 80. But I could hear that they where there in the noise. But not able to hear if they would call me back. But I run into them on 40 m. Just one call and wow! He was in my log. But any way I got an ATNO in my log.

I have a Picture that's has nothing what so ever to do with radio. But these small creatures have had a hard time as we have had so Cold weather. But now almost all of the White fluff has gone away and temperature is around 6 C ( 43 F ).

No we are hoping that the VP8SGI from South Georgia will be "ON the Air". But that remain to see!

Into the log of VP8STI!

Finally I managed to get some band slots into VP8STI.
I had worked them on 17 and 20 m. Yesterday I hopefully got into  the 40 m, and 30 m both CW and also 15 m SSB!!! Not confirmed yet as no log uploaded to Club Log. Worked with my old MP ( see Picture)
But the K5P is a ghost. Several of my friends have worked them on 80 m!!?? But at my location there is not a whisper on 80 despite K9AY antenna and also NIL on my vertical. But I guess that is Life.
This morning VP8STI was very strong on 80m (3524 KHz) but he didn't here moi!! Heard that Before, or........................??

So you can see that I can work some DX with this old friend of mine with all filters including an Inrad Roofing Filter. So far no need for a K3S (no Money any way).

WX! This morning I had some snow on the ground and temperature is only -1 C (30 F). Feel like spring!!!!

Big Dissappointment!

K5P was a hard one to get into my log. I have managed only on 30 m CW so far. And VP8STI is also a week one. I have worked them on 17 and 20 m CW. Last night I was Calling them on 30 m RTTY. He was working DN 1 - 12. Conditions was strange as I hardly could hear the pile but he was S-5-9. And I was Calling and Calling and Calling.......... But NIL: Have seen on Club Log that a lot of SM has made it into VP8STI log on multi green dots. Must be something wrong with me or my stuff!!?? I worked VP8LP Bob in the Falkland Island a few Days ago on 12 m SSB. He was S9 +10 at my station. VP8STI has not been detected so far on 12 at my location. Strange!
Checked the statistics on K5P. They had this morning worked 56032 QSO but only 5791 EU. That's only 10,3 %!!! Only 65 SM has made it into K5P log.

Picture!

The Picture has nothing to do with radio. Just want to show you that it is still very Cold. This morning -13 C ( 8,6 F ).

So, back to the radio and stick my head into the speaker trying to hear K5P!!

Dammned hart to work K5P and still very cold!

To get a QSO with K5P was a real challenge. I have, after some struggle, slipped into the log on 30 m. Checked the last Club Log statistic and it is Amazing how low EU is in number of QSO's. Out of 28.072 QSO's only 2.392 are EU!!?? That is 8,5 %!! And I have tried to hear them but most of the time not a "pip"! Strongest so far is on 30 m followed by 40 m. And I have called on 40 but NIL! I have Heard them on 80 m. But not possible to work. On 20 and up nothing! This is an ATNO for moi so I'm a bit disappointed in their selections of antennas and PA (KPA500).

Have to show you a Picture of my daughter trying out a new horse in a jumping session. I Think they both looks happy!

And WX is still very Cold and clear. This morning it was -15 C (5 F). SO still no chance for a mosquito bite!!

Take care and CUL

New rare IOTA.

Yes! Today I received a QSL from OC-229, Crocker Island. From the Australia Northern Territory Group. Call was VK5MAV/8.

Imagine you are out swimming and get an encounter with this fellow. Guess you will paddle quite fast!!?? Anyway nice card. And OC-229 is only claimed, according to IOTA directory, by 22%. NICE!

Now I'm on my toes for K5P, Palmyra Atoll. I suspect it will be quite hard to get a QSO. SP is 0 deg and openings will be short. But I will try my best.

The Artic Cold has hit us!

Yesterday we had it real Cold outside. When these Pictures where taken it was minus -23 C (-10 F). But up in the Northen Part of Sweden they where under minus -40 (-40 F) during the day. And that is Cold!!

You can see the Cold!

Managed to get into the log of ZL9A, OC-286 Antipod Island ( NZ Antarctic Island ). These Island has never been activated Before according to IOTA Directory. So, nice with a new one in my Collection.

Weather predictin is for milder temps. They are eaven talking about rain this weekend.

That's all for now.  CUL

Some winter here in Sweden

Finally we got some Winter here in Sweden. Temp outside is around -20 C (-4 F). And some snow on the ground. About 5 cm (2") of the White fluff. But next week there are chance of temps around 0. But at the moment there are no chance of getting a mosquito bite!!!???

I was trying to work AA0RS on 160 m. But he didn't hear me. He came back once and  called SM5CBR??? And I'm sure he was calling moi! But no QSO! There is a SM3CBR but I did not hear him in the pile.
I was lsn for him this morning as well but he didn't hear me this morning either. Hi is very strong from his 4SQ full size on 160 m. But I wonder what receiving antennas he have. I use a K9AY and on this antenna he was almost 599!! Amazing sigs. Half EU was Calling him and he was Calling CQ.

This was my set up when I tried to work him.

Might have been a mistake to use the TS-590S and ACOM1010. Only 800 W out on 160 m.
But he heard me but didn't persist in getting a QSO. But I will keep on trying as Colorado is missing State on 160 m.

Well, that's all for now. CUL

Tuesday 5 January 2016

One new IOTA and DXCC and some new band slots.

Yesterday I received QSL D4D. And this  made Cap Verde complete. I had worked D4 in contest's on All bands. But WARC and RTTY was blank. But not any more as these "LazyDxers" made my day. D4 is now confirmed from 160 to 10 m and all modes!!

And here is the QSL!

Next one was a new entry as well as a new IOTA. OC-007, Willis Island. OK! I got it confirmed on LoTW but now I have proof. I'm only sorry I missed them on 80 m. But that is Life. I managed to Catch them on 7 band slots and on CW, SSB and RTTY. So I'm satisfied!!

Nice card indeed!

My car passed the MOT and now I can drive it for a year untill the next inspection.

Well that's all for now. CUL
