This week starts good!

This week starts good. I've got a QSL from VK5CE/P, Craig. He was working from OC-261, Flinders Island. So the IOTA score is improving.

Here is the proof!

Worked a few QSO's in the CQWW RTTY Contest just to improve my DXCC score on digital modes. This mode is new to me.  Before the Contest I had 30 worked on RTTY. After the few hours in the Contest and 183 QSO's later I was up to 80 worked. And I have already got around 20 confirmed via LoTW.

This morning I also worked two new IOTA. EJ0M from EU-121 and 9A/IQ3VO from EU-170. I hope I will pass 500 Islands this year. I have  305 confirmed and around 100 that I'm waiting for to arrive (half of that was in the IOTA Contest).

Weather today is temp around 6 C ( 43 F ) and showers. I will stay Indoors the rest of this day!!

One more new IOTA arrived!

Today I received a QSL from JA6TBE/6 working from AS-036, Ikino Shima Island.
So my IOTA score is improving all the time. I have around 310 confirmed and approx. 65 that I'm waiting for to arrive.

Not bad for starting to chase IOTA around 2 year's ago. But I still have some old QSL's to investigate if they can be claimed as an IOTA.

I have some problem with my Telephone line and Internet access. The phone is completely dead and Internet works with limited speed. The Telephone Company has promised me my line back as of yesterday. But I'm still in the shit here. Now the phone Company talks about a major fault on the line! Wonder what that means?

So I will be back when the Internet is up and running with normal speed.

New IOTA!

Today I received a QSL from JA8COE/8 working from AS-147, Yagishiri Island. Quite rare.

Worked him on 15-Sep-2013 and received his card today 26-Sep-2013. Superquick!!!!

Well not so much done on the radio. FO/KH0PR seams to have gone QRT. Worked him from all 3 IOTA's. Request for QSL is sent.

I also requested QSL for my QSO's with XZ1Z via Pay-Pal. And yesterday I received Myanmar on LoTW. Thanks Zorro!

Winter is approaching fast. This morning I had the first frost night. Temperature was -2 and all was white with frost. At the moment sun is shining from a clear sky and temp is around 6 C ( 42 F ).

Well that's all for now. CUL

Tuesday 24 September 2013

Worked a new one!

It is not so common to Catch a new DXCC. But I managed to get in the log of XZ1Z on SSB and CW on 20 m band. Myanmar is not worked every day and it was new for me.

During this weekend I have helped a fellow Ham to assembly a 40 m high Tower that will be used as a Vertical for 160 m. It is still on the ground but will be erected during next week. If all goes as plans.

No we have had the Autumnal Equinox and that means that the sun has gone down over the North Pole for the coming 6 months!! And here, up in the 60 deg North the days is getting shorter and shorter. Best thing with this is that the condition on 80 and 160 m is improving.
Temperature is also low. At the moment is just 8 C ( 46 F ).

QSL!

Today the mail man was kind to me. She delivered a QSL to me.
It was from 18 of August when I worked OC-142, Curtis Island. Call was VK4WIR/P. And it was on 20 m SSB.

Thee QSO was from the mornings in mid August when the amazing openings occured LP towards VK.
This morning I worked FO/KH0PR from OC-238. It was 20 m RTTY. Heard SM1TDE and SM5DJZ work him before I managed to get through.

Now it is time for a cup of coffee in the garden. Temp is 18 C and sun is shining from a clear sky.

Still no QSL!

Wonder what is happening. No QSL at all so far this week.

Yesterday I was at my old Military Regiment for some information. I capture this piece of steel with my camera.

It is a fully functional Centurion on display. All Centurion was modified over the years and the whole system was faced out around 2000 when the latest version was scrapped.. But this one is kept in mint condition.

Heard FO/KH0PR on 14 MHz RTTY this morning. But he was weak and working a lot of Southern EU. But we up in and above 60 deg North was as usual without a chance. I will keep on trying.

Updated my IPHONE 4 with the new IOS 7.0. A totally new appearance. Have to learn the phone all over again. But so far all functions is simple and are closer to an Apple Computer than before. Keep up the good work you guys at Apple.

Weather in this part of Sweden is rainy and temp is around 10 C ( 50 F ).

Well, CUL!

Nil QSL so far this week!

No QSL this week so far. But there are some Days to go yet. This coming weekend the Contest SAC CW part will go off. This is fun as we in Scandinavia is the target. Hope for fine conditions. CU in the pile.

Worked HP0INT/4 on NA-088 this morning in a huge pile on 30 m CW. I'v got them all!!!

Some guy's have antennas and some has ANTENNAS! This Picture is from the 3 el Yagi for 80 m up 44 m in the air. And I had to do some repair. Nice view but some haze in the air.

Well! No one  solved the Quiz in my last post. I can tell you it is a Spoiler Mixer in the Main Wheel Well of a Boeing 737-800 (NG). The Mixer helps the aileron to turn the Aircraft. For an example a left turn the RH Aileron goes down and Left Up and also the Spoilers on the upside of the LH wing opens up as required.
That's all for education for today!

A new riddle!

Here you all have a quiz!
What is the grey thing in the middle of the Picture?

Correct answer will come in the next post. If you wonder what the brownish stuff is I can tell you it is corrosion protection from Dinitrol.

Well, I managed to work HP0INT/9 on NA-203 last night. Worked him in a huge pile on 21 MHz around 19:00 Z. One to "Go". And that is NA-088 starting tomorrow.

Temperature starts to getting lower and lower. Weather man is predicting some rain from late tonight.
Autumn is coming that's for sure.

Take care and CUL

Rare IOTA worked this morning.

I managed to work NA-202 this morning on 40 m SSB. It was the team from HP0INT/2 with very strong sigs into SM this morning. So now I will wait for the two remaining islands NA-203 and NA-088.
And the team from FO/KH0PR has one Island remaining to go to. And it is OC-238. So there are a lot to do in the near future.

No QSL received so far this week. But the Magazine CQ has start to arrive again. Hope it will continue to do so.

Have to have a Picture. What about this!?

This is one of the rescue helicopters used in my region. Hovering nice in the air.
Well, now I will go to the shooting range and make some holes in paper targets.

Incident on RTTY on 20 m!!??

I was lsn around the RTTY part of 20 m today and found for me a new prefix. It was OO8ON that was Calling CQ on 20 m. Fine I thought. Nice with a new prefix. He was calling CQ and no takers. So I gave him a call and all hell broke loose! He started to accuse me for trying to take his QRG? But hello! I was trying to get a QSO with you. Called him agn with the same result and I QSY:ed away and worked some other stations.
Then I saw a spot on cluster where this ham ON8ON accused me for breaking the DX code of conduct. All this shit for trying to get a QSO with him. Well I do not need any ON in my log as I have it confirmed from 160 to 6 m.

So I'm very sorry for trying to have a QSO with You ON8ON with call OO8ON. I will never call you again ever. And if I hear you I will for sure QSY and not cause any QRM for you when you are calling CQ! And if, for some reason You will try to call me. Don't even Think about it as you will not get an answer.

So a lot of fun happen on the ham bands as you all can see. But I will stick to CW for a long time now.

But for the rest of the day I worked some stations on RY and most of them are new for me. It was EI4KF, A41OO, TM35CDXC and EA6/I1RSA. And one funny thing was that none of these stations did mind that I was Calling them. They even sent me a "73" and at least one gave me a "GL" after the QSO and no mean spots on the cluster either. Strange, or..............?

Now I will start lsn for HP0INT/2 from NA-202.

Thanks to you all and CUL

Foggy mornings!

Every morning the last week we have had very thick fog. And after the sun is up most of the fog is lifted and we get a clear sky. You can see for your self how it looks.

Worked FO/KH0PR yesterday from OC-094 Napuka Atoll. Next stop is OC-238 and I'm lsn with both ears wide open.

HP0INT/2 will start operation from NA-202 today or tomorrow if all goes as plans.
It has been hard work so far with all new IOTA.

So back to radio! CUL

Tuesday 10 September 2013

Worked a few rare IOTA's.

No QSL received  so far this week. But I have worked a few new IOTA. HP0INT/3, NA-071 and HP0INT/2, NA-170. Last one was in an enormous pile. Had to call for 30 minutes before I had him in my log. Then I have worked FO/KH0PR from OC-131. Now I'm waiting for him to be heard here in Sweden from OC-094. I have seen a few spots but not a sound here up in 60 deg North.

Have to have a Picture. What about a Swedish made Dive Bomber from 1943.

It was called B17 and was built in several version's. Engine was a P&W TWC-3 delivering around 1000 Hk. This is a restored Aircraft and in full flying condition. I have seen it on a couple of air shows and the sound is just super.

Take care!

Nice QSL cards via Buro.

To day I received a few cards via Buro. And by them I found a few real nice ones. The first is from Zambia, 9J3A worked on 10 m CW. Nice to get a rare  DXCC via Buro.

It was Niko, S53A who was on a Safari and worked some ham radio as well.

Next card I have to show you just because it is such a beauty. Wonder where RT0Q got it from. He might have taken the picture him self. QSL don't say. But it is one of the best so far in my point of view.

Hope you agree with me. It is very nice. Fun to get these type of cards via Buro. Click and look at them in large scale.

Very rare IOTA in my mail box!

Today the card from K6VVA/KL7 working from NA-050, Barter Isl arrived. According to IOTA only 17% has this Island confirmed. Nice card showing a Polar Bear mum with two Cubbies in a pile of Vale Bones.

Nice card indeed! Thanks Rick! Click on the Picture to see a large image of it!

Now back to my question in my last post. You that guessed on a Boeing 747 was right. And those of you that guessed 747-400 was completely right. We used this one for Tourist charter to HS and 3B8.
Nice Aircraft to work with.

Well that's all for now. CUL

Thursday 5 September 2013

Bragg time!?

I have to bragg about that I managed to get a Picture and a small article in September Issue of CQ Magazine. It's about the SH3Y operation in WPX Contest all performed by a Group of youngsters from all over Europe. Contest was operated from the Contest station SK3W. Unfortunately I can't put a copy here ( I Think) due to copyrights so you have to look in September Issue of CQ and look at page 38. Read and just enjoy the fantastic picture ( taken by moi ).

End of bragg time for now.

Have to show you a Picture any way. So why not a picture from my working time. Wonder if you knew what type of Aircraft that has so many Main Wheels ( 16 big ones )??

Answer will come in next post! But I can give you a clue. We loaded around 500 Tourists in the cabin!!

New IOTA arrived!

YES! Today I received a QSL confirming a new IOTA. It was from 5B4MF/P from St. George's Island AS-120. A new one for me and the IOTA score keeps improving steady but very slow!!

Nice card! I have a bit over 300 confirmed at the moment. But I will wait with an update until end of this year.

Today it is windy and some small CB's travel fast over the sky with some light showers. No TS so far. Temperature is only 13 C ( 55 F ) so it is not so pleasant out in the garden.

Sunday 1 September 2013

Nothing this last week!

No QSL, no CQ Magazine since May. So what is happening? CQ have a big problem to send Magazine overseas. The problem started in April. Then they sent me a copy via normal mail. But then I have not received a CQ Magazine at all. They claimed that the problem with overseas distribution have been solved but still no Magazines in my mail box.
Wonder if I'm the only subscriber located outside US that have this problem??!!

So what's up! Do you need some help? I'm a specialist of finding food and lot of other things. But I have never chased CQ Before!! (Comment's from Balder).

On the radio this week I have worked a new IOTA. It was VK7SM from Tasmania. I have also got two new DXCC entries on PH. It was E51JD and A92HK. Both of them worked on 21 MHz PH. I have only 217 DXCC confirmed on PH so there are a lot to do here. On CW I'm well over 300.

Well, I will keep a Close Watch over my mail box this coming week. Hope that  there will be some news of incoming mail!?-
