IOTA cfm and two new band slots

I just received QSL from XX9D, German DXpedition. Worked them on two new band slots. 17 m and 15 m. Also one new mode namely RTTY. Only missing Macao on 160 and 80 m.

But I also received a "Thank You" card due to my sponsoring. IOTA is AS-075. And I got it all on LoTW. Super!!

Winter has returned to this part of Sweden. Tomorrow there is prediction for snow showers and temp around freezing. Brrrrrrr!!!!

Spring is here!

I promised you an animal on a Picture. Well, here are one bird that is a proof that spring is here.
The bird is a Wagtail. Unfortunately it do not stand still for more than a fraction of a second so it is hard to get a Sharp Picture. But here are a serious attempt any way.

So this will finish the store of my new Nikkor lens. I will not bother you any more in this matter. Back to radio.
I'm trying to get a QSO with A25UK on 40 m CW in a huge pile-up. I guess a snowball in hell will have a better chance to survive than I get through this pile!!!???

RDA Chaser!

Well, there are nothing new out there so I decided to test something new. And I choose to start chasing for the Russian District Award (RDA). By checking out RX3RC home page I found that I already have more than 100 confirmed RDA's. So I guess that this is a good choice. I had to create an account for the RDA forum so I can get some info. But unfortunately most conversation is in Russian. But any way it is a lot of fun to have a goal.

Have to show you some more Pictures taken with the new Nikkor Lens. I'm quite impressed of the performance of the lens. OK, I'm using the stabilising system that Nikon provided in the lens. It is called VR (Vibration Reduction mode). But it is difficult to hold a camera with a lens at 450 mm focal length. But here we go. First is 105 mm and the second is 450 mm but they are from different angle.

Looks OK to moi!!! Or..............................????

Anyway I shall see if I can get some birds or other animals in the sight.

Back to radio to see if I can chatch A25UK on some missing band slots.

New lens for my Nikon D90

I have got a new lens for my D90. Nikon D90 is a APS-C (DX sensor) but the lens are for full format 24X36 (FX sensor). But it is fully compatible to my Nikon D90 with auto focus and measurement for exposure. Lens is a Zoom 70-300 mm f/4,5-5,6G IF-ED. But when used with a DX sensor focal length will be 105-450 mm.

Here you can see two test Picture taken yesterday evening with limited light available.

First is with 105 mm.

And from same position 450 mm.

I have not done any processing via Photo Shop. So it will be some haze due to long focal length. I will play around with this lens and it looks promising. The blur in the mid of Picture is one isolator belonging to my 40 m GP elevated radial.

Update on WX

Well, it didn't got as bad as predicted. No snow on the ground and rainfall was about 2" and that is not much. But it is Cold outside. Temp around freezing but sun is shining through some light clouds. This day might turn out OK!

Saw on QRZ.com that MDXC (Mediterraneo DX Club) is celebrating 20th anniversary. Congrats to them all and thanks for a few well performed DXpeditions. Here is the card from Madagaskar, Nosy Be Island operation in 2014.

2 New IOTA and a snow storm on the way!

Yes! Today I received QSL from Mikhail, VE7ACN (RW0CN) operating from NA-041, Prince of Wales Isl using call KL7/VE7ACN. And also a QSL from the operation from NA-061, Kaien Island Canada where he was using the call VE7ACN/7.
This pushed my score up 2 Points!!!???

So I'm slowly getting closer to the magic 500 level. I'm just now at 492!!

Weather is more Winter than what it normally should be at this time of the year. Wind is blowing at 15 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. And there is a warning out for the area that we might get around 1' (one feet) of snow today. But I guess it will go a bit more to the North of me. Temperature this morning was minus -8 C (19 F) and at the moment it is +7 C (44 F). But during night temp will drop and rain will turn into snow. It will be exciting to see how much snow I will get!!

Worked a few new IOTA's

This week I have worked a few new IOTA's.
It was CV5A from SA-030, Flores Isl. R71RRC from rare AS-071, Arakamchechen Isl (wonder how that is pronounced). And for just a few minutes ago I worked J5W from AF-020, Rubane Isl.

So 3 new Islands is not so bad for moi!! I will order the QSL's as soon as OQRS is open. CV5A is on order already.

WX here in Sweden is Cold for the time. Temp outside is around freezing and it is to Cold to take my motorbike for a ride. But hopefully it will get warmer soon.
