XR0YG QRV from Easter Island

Worked XR0YG on 30 and 20 m. Quite amazing piles. And every one is constant calling despite DX calling for specific stations there is always some one that still transmitting his call without thinking that he is causing QRM for the DX. That is lowering the DX rate. Well this is a phenomena we have to live with.

Winter is slowly backing off. Nights is still cold. Last night was around minus 14 C ( 6,9 F ). But the power from the sun is really increasing. Now at 08:30 Z the temperature is already plus 6 C. So I will take a coffee break outside in a few minutes.

Balder agree with that.

So keep up the QRM level for all of us and don't bother about the risk of heart failure for the rest of the Hams out there!!??

This weekend the WPX SSB contest is going off. Hope we can have a lots of QSO's. And also during night between Saturday and Sunday we are changing to summer time. That means we have to advance our clock's 1 hour forward. So we will lose one hour due to this (locally only, Zulu time do not change, thanks for that).

Equinox has occurred!

The Equinox occurred today 20 March. Now the sun has risen at the North Pole and will stay up all day long for 6 months. But that's on the pole. Here today the Day and Night is equal in length. That's what Equinox stand for. This means that the Spring should be here??!! Well, temp here is just now Minus 6 C and wind around 15 kt. No Spring so far!!

Have worked H44G on 15 m CW yesterday. Also worked DU1/LA6FJA on 40 m. Nothing new.

Have to have a picture!

Here is one of my new toy. I'm really impressed of this little Radio. The bang you get for the buck is just amazing! Performance is super and ergonomics just fine! I can really recommend this radio to any one. And Yes, it is a TS-590S!

New on 24 MHz!

Today I received a QSL from VU2RBI OP Bharathi. She was new on 24 MHz. So now I'm over the magic limit for DXCC and a sticker for my 5BDXCC making it a 7BDXCC! So I have to order a DXCC for 12 m ASAP!
Here you can see the card.

The sun have had a major CME thrown towards the earth. The event occurred on Friday and hit the earth on Sunday morning. Pushed K index up to almost 9! But the night sky on Sunday put up a super show with magnificent Aurora. Not so good opening on 50 MHz. Just stations already worked. Nothing new.

The cold weather is still on. Temp today is around minus 5. And sun is shining from a clear sky and we have a wind with about 3 to 8 kt making it feel even more cold. Hope the spring will come soon.

Spratly confirmed on 12 m.

I'v got 9M4SLL confirmed via LoTW on 12 m. I only miss Spratly Island on 160 m now. But this is a challenge but I will try every evening from my side.

I have also worked H44G on phone and that was new for me on PH.

I have to show you a picture of one of the birds I was taking care of a few years ago.

It is a B-737-800 NG. Long time ago now. But I still remember all of the systems.

Temp this morning was very low. It was minus 20 C ( -4 F ). Wonder when the spring will come to this part of the world!

That's all for now.

TX5K QRT!

Thanks all of you operators on Clipperton Island. I finally worked you on 10 m CW. Missed you only on 160 and 80 m. But you where a new DXCC and a new IOTA for me. This bring my total up to 7 band slots and all modes. THANKS!

Looking forward to your next operation from Heard Island. and CW rules!!

This is a picture of my Original Bug. A real good-looker and a beast to operate!

Now we have very cold nights and quite warm during the day. This morning it was minus 15 C ( 5 F ) !!! But I just put another log into the fire and enjoy the warmth.

Well that's all for now. And during TX5K DXpedition QRP operation from 60 deg North was totally impossible!

Life is to short for QRP!!

Clipperton update!

Well, I have managed to get some more QSO's with Clipperton. Also a new mode. Score is as follows:
40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 m CW. 20 m RTTY and yesterday after long time calling I'm in the log on 15 m SSB!
This morning I was calling him on 80 m but no QSO so far. Two more days to go and I hope they will continue to work EU on 80 m in our mornings . To day he was around S 7 to 9. Fantastic sigs from Clipperton. But he didn't hear Moi!! I'm just running 1 KW to a single vertical antenna. No handles on my finale tubes!!! But I will keep on trying for sure.

This night was really cold. Around 04:00 local time I had minus 14 C ( 6,8 F ). That is cold! But the sun is shining from a clear sky and during the day we will see teperatures in the plus side when the sun has done his task!

Well that's all for now.

Clipperton worked on a few slots.

Worked Clipperton Island on 30, 20 and 15 m and 17 m CW and on 20 m RTTY. Not so difficult as many states. Came back yesterday as you can read about in my last previous blogg. Have just spent a few hours and got 5 green plumps in the on-line log.
But it is very funny how many stations that have SM5 in their calls.TX5K calls "SM5CB?" and all I, DL UA, OK, you name it, they all have SM5CB in their call. Because they all are calling despite the operator on TX5 is calling Moi! When will they learn the ethics of operation!!!! Never, I guess!!

Any way weather here in Sweden is nice. Sunny and warm. Temp around +5 C. Snow is melting away fast. Hopefully we will get spring soon.

Well, that's all for now. CUL!

New DXCC worked and Balder is back to his home!

I went down to the city of Varberg this weekend to return Balder to his real home. It was exciting to see his reaction to the new family member. It was fantastic to see him treat the new baby. He was so soft and careful in his approach to him. I supply a picture of all three.

Nice!!!

Well, TX5K Clipperton Isl has been active for a while. When I arrived back from Varberg I had to raise my antenna and start lsn for them. They where very week on 20 m. Workable on 17 m but the pile was not of this world. But a totally different story on 15 m. he was S 7-9 and I just called a few times and he was in my log!!!! So now I have scratch out FO0 from my list of remaining DXCC to work. Now I have only 32 (!!!!?????) more to go. So now I will have bonus if I work them on some other band slots.

Well that's all for now.
